This really silly but pervasive rumor clams that Frank Zappa is the son of Hugh "Lumpy" Brannum, also known as the famous Mr. Greenjeans from Captain Kangaroo. Mr. Brannum did have a son, but it was not Zappa. Frank Zappa is the immigrant son of Francis Vincent Sappa, Sr. This rumor apparently has its roots in a song off of Zappa's album, Hot Rats, called "Son of Mr. Green Genes." Someone apparently took it literally, possibly because they don't know the difference between "genes" and "jeans."
In an attempt to scare his friends, young Brian Jewel, 17, staged his own hanging for Halloween partygoers on a hayride. The stunt apparently worked too well, and the rope choked poor Brian. Friends became suspicious when his usual speech was not given while passing Brian on the hayride.
Ever wonder when you look at a soft-drink vending machine warning sticker about tipping and fatalities if anybody is actually dumb enough to do it? Apparently so, according to records! In 1994, a particularly thirsty and frustrated man was found crushed to death by a Coke machine that had toppled onto him when it would not operate to his specifications. No tipping, please.
In Hialeah, Florida, a 24-year-old man was the victim of a car crash that police said hit speeds of 80 miles per hour. The young driver expired when his car slammed into a pole. When examined, a sales manual was found open in his lap. Apparently he had been reading while driving.
There is an old rumor stating that the "Star Trek" TV show's theme song was originally written with lyrics. Now, one might believe this to be silly and ridiculous, but one would be wrong. Star Trek's opening song indeed originally did have lyrics. Here they are : Beyond the rim of star-light/My love Is wand'ring in star-flight/I know he'll find in star-clustered reaches/ Love, strange love a star woman teaches/ I know his journey ends never/His star trek will go on forever/but tell him while he wanders his starry sea/Remember, remember me. Oh, by the way the lyrics were written by none other than Gene Roddenberry.
This term is often used as a reference to the birth of Jesus from the Virgin Mary, or as reference to a woman who has given birth without sexual intimacy. These interpretations are incorrect. The Immaculate Conception has to do with the birth of Mary. This dogma was established that contends that Mary was separated from the "original sin" of Adam and was therefore immaculate.
